World Music Day

World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique, is celebrated every year on 21 June. It began in France in 1982 and was started by the French Ministry of Culture to encourage people to make and enjoy music in public spaces.

The day celebrates music in all its forms—classical, folk, jazz, rock, pop, traditional, and contemporary. Musicians, both amateur and professional, perform in parks, streets, schools, and community venues, often free of charge.

World Music Day promotes cultural exchange, creativity, and unity, highlighting music's power to connect people across languages and borders. It is now celebrated in many countries around the world through concerts, workshops, festivals, and community events.
